The Garmin inReach Explorer+

Vismo has added the compact Garmin inReach Explorer+ to its extensive list of tracking devices. Apart from owning the Iridium Extreme satellite phone, it’s one of the only few ways to have two-way communications with friends, family, and emergency services in areas where there is no mobile coverage.

Vismo’s VP Business Development, Colin Dale, recently tested the device on a 45-mile, overnight hike, on the Appalachian Trail in New York State. This is his review:

“The increased screen size of 1.75″ x 1.5″, makes it much easier to read, especially in bright sunlight or in snow fields. The device sends and receives locations and messages via the Iridium satellite network, which has pole-to-pole global coverage, so it essentially works everywhere. The GPS locations are reported back to the Vismo platform, allowing admin teams to keep track of locations and safety statuses.

The device has a panic button, which connects directly to the Vismo platform; allowing alerts to be sent to anyone, anywhere in the world, as required. The device was useful for downloading preloaded TOPO maps, which can be seen directly from the device. There is also a built-in digital compass, barometric altimeter and accelerometer. Although the menu structure isn’t intuitive to begin with and is a little complicated to use at first, once set up, it’s a straight forward device to use.”

Vismo is Attending Education Without Borders 2018

Vismo is attending the Education Without Borders conference on the 14th November 2018, at The Royal Society, London. The conference supports the academic sector in increasing awareness, capability and best practice in travel risk management. The event provides insights into real-life situations, allowing the academic sector to be more informed to better protect students and staff when travelling abroad.

Vismo has been developed in response to customer demand by Cellhire plc, a leading Global Service Provider of mobile communications. In 2012, a large client in the education sector enquired about tracking solutions for students that were partaking in an international travel programme. The intent was to assure parents of their child’s safety by allowing them to monitor their whereabouts at any given moment. Following this, Vismo has continued to cater to the ever-growing demand for tracking solutions. The Vismo GPS tracking solution is a smartphone application that is also integrated into hardware such as personal trackers and Iridium satellite devices. Vismo has many features including Incident Management, a Panic Button, Geo-Fencing, Check-In functions, VismoMessaging and VismoStream – live video streaming.

Vismo to Exhibit at the Global Security Exchange (GSX) in Las Vegas

GSX

Vismo will once again be attending the Global Security Exchange Exhibition (GSX) in Las Vegas from September 23rd to September 27th 2018. The exhibition is one of the largest security shows in the world, and has a significant impact in the security industry, with over 22,000 people attending from over 100 different countries.

Having attended a number of exhibitions in the past, Vismo will be attending this year’s GSX, ready to showcase recent technological advances of its GPS tracking solution. Vismo is committed to increasing traveler security, demonstrated through constantly advancing features of its system. Over the past year, Vismo has developed innovative technology including an integrated Mass Messaging and an automated Incident Management System.

The Vismo Incident Management System allows operation teams to identify travelers efficiently in a crisis. After automatically locating travelers, the system prompts operation teams to immediately action assigned and definable tasks, accordingly.

The Vismo Mass Messaging feature can be used in conjunction with the Incident Management System. Users of Vismo can be immediately contacted by the Operations Centre, requesting their safety status via multiple communication methods including text, email, text to voice and in-app. All responses are collated by definable severity levels and tasks are then automatically assigned to available members of the operations team. These developments allow clients and partners to utilize the numerous features of Vismo to gather information on traveler status and enhance the ASIS Award Winning VismoStream and Panic Button; features that were showcased at the 2017 and 2016 exhibition.

Vismo will be releasing its enhanced service offering at this year’s GSX. These significant developments reflect the dedication and commitment the company has to improving customer safety. The latest version of the Vismo software, including the app and secure platform, will be demonstrated live at this year’s exhibition.

Vismo Screens

ASIS Accolade 2017 Winner

Vismo is returning to the exhibition after overwhelming success at ASIS 2017, where VismoStream was chosen as the Security’s Best Winner of the 2017 ASIS Accolades. VismoStream allows users to quickly upload a live 3-minute video to the Vismo Portal, which allows operation teams to assess any situation and respond accordingly. The feature is now recognized as an innovative platform to gather highly valuable information using smartphone technology. The encrypted video sharing allows users to have the security of knowing a live streaming service is available, should an incident occur.
